A Fellow Soldier in Christ

Folks,

I’m writing this morning to tell you about a friend of mine. I’ve never talked with this man face-to-face and I consider him a fellow soldier in the war for souls on this ball of mud. He is Tim Bettger,a young man that was recently living in Germany and was hit by a drunk driver while riding his motorcycle on the Autobahn.

Tim ended up with multiple broken bones, an arm that went missing, was reattached, and then had to be removed again. Since then, Tim has undergone surgery after surgery and has just begun some incredibly painful therapy and rehabilitative exercises.

Why is any of this relevant? Through all of this,  Tim, a warrior for Christ that has barely been on this mortal coil for two full decades, has kept the faith and has been an inspiration to others. He knows Christ and he is connecting to him at each tough step of this recovery, and that is motivating and beautiful to those of us who follow his story. His sister and parents have immortalized Tim’s struggle in bits and bytes at CaringBridge. I urge you to read it
