Science and the Bible

I have been faced with discussions on the Flood recently. What I mean is, I have participated in discussions where Christians are under extreme attack because they believe in the “ridiculous parts” of the Bible (like the story of the Great Flood).

Why are Christians under attack? Because scientists and other people “who can reason” have stated that the world is very old and that – because of this – the Bible is not a literal record of what happened. Care to investigate this with me just for a moment? Read the rest of this entry »

Pornography: No Big Deal?

Many people argue against pornography from a societal standpoint; that is, “Porn is ripping apart the moral fabric of our country and we are fixated to an unhealthy degree on it… to the tune of 57 billion dollars a year”.

Folks, when I decided to attend the CareNet annual conference in Louisville, KY this year, I thought that I would learn a lot about what a Board Member at a Crisis Pregnancy Center should do. I thought I may – perhaps – even intersect with people of faith and encounter reflections of our Lord here and there, but I certainly would learn how to do more things for the Kingdom here on earth. What I didn’t know God had in store were deep lessons about what He wants me to be for Him. Read the rest of this entry »

Abortion and Birth Control

Sep 17th, 2007 Posted in Abortion, Crisis Pregnancy | no comment »

As I prepare to travel to Louisville for the annual CareNet conference, I reflect on some thoughts on abortion and birth control I’ve had this year. It is abundantly clear – to me – that the moment from which we should not interfere with a pregnancy is conception (God’s perfect knowledge of the future combined with verses like Job 10:11 and Psalms 139:13), but my views on what stance should we take on birth control have become more specific.
